The final concert in the 2017-2018 Musical Arts Concert Series at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Neffsville will feature the Lancaster British Brass Band on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 7pm.
The Lancaster British Brass Band was founded in 2004, although the tradition of brass bands began over 150 years ago in the United Kingdom. The Lancaster British Brass Band consists of 28 instrumentalists from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey. All members play brass winds and percussion instruments and are accomplished professional performers and teachers. The sound of the Lancaster British Brass Band has been compared to “one big, magnificent pipe organ.” They will perform a variety of works, including classics, marches, hymns, and even popular pieces. Programs are selected for a balanced concert that hopes to please a wide range of tastes and interests.
The Lancaster British Brass Band is directed by Dr. Stephen Arthur Allen, a UK native, who is now an associate professor of music at Rider University and a visiting professor of Euphonium at Rutgers University.
This concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering is collected during intermission. Ten percent of the free-will offering will go to Lutheran Disaster Relief in response to the weather disasters last summer.
