Hello there!
Today at church I had the privilege to meet one of St. Peter’s college students. Lindsey had the privilege of being done with her first year of school. All of you who are still hard at work finishing up your semester, don’t get TOO jealous of her! You are on the final stretch and those papers and tests and exams will be done soon. I promise. And then it’s pack up and move back home time. How does that transition work for you?
Do you need to vacate your dorm or do you have your own place that you can keep over the summer months? Are you planning to find a summer job or are there plans that await you far from here? Either way…I hope that during this summer you can do two things for me:
- We have some graduating seniors this year who are taking the next big step. Many of them are heading off to college next year. Do you remember those weeks prior to your high school graduation? Can you recall the night before you left for school? What was that like? Were you a little nervous? Had a lot of questions? This is where you can help. Look up one of the high school seniors at St. Peter’s and check in with them. The summer before college I was dying to get started and dreading to get started at the same time. And I needed to talk to folks who were in the same boat as me, but had a few more answers than I did. You can be that mentor or wise one to one of our seniors. Think about it!
- Come to church and make sure to say hello to me. I’m still kind of new, and I haven’t met everyone…and I really want to meet you. Or re-meet you, if the case may be. I would love to take you out to lunch or coffee. I love both. So take take me up on it and get a free latte or lunch out of it!
Well, know that you all are in our prayers. Whether you’re home waiting for that summer job to start or at school waiting for that empty white page to be filled with the beautifully written prose of your final paper..please know God is with you. And you are loved and cared for regardless of your GPA.
Hope to see you soon!
