Word of Life Deaf Lutheran Church (WOLD) is a small and active Deaf congregation meeting at St. Peter’s, where regular worship and Bible study are offered in American Sign Language (ASL).
WOLD is one of four Deaf congregations in the ELCA. Serving as pastor for WOLD is the Rev. Russell A. Rockwell, who is Hearing.
WOLD meets for worship in the chapel at St. Peter’s every Sunday. Bible Studies are usually offered from September through May in Room 100 on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm. For the latest info on WOLD’s activities, go to www.wordoflifedeaf.org.
Obviously, WOLD’s mission is geared to the Deaf community, but Hearing visitors are always welcome! Attending WOLD activities is a great way to learn about Deaf people, Deaf culture, and ASL.

It is a blessing to work in Deaf ministry; it is a double blessing to work with the people of WOLD — they are truly gracious, warm, and loving! Teaching Bible studies at WOLD excites me because of their passion to learn. I also enjoy the fresh perspective on the scriptures that preaching & teaching in ASL always gives me.
