Hi Folks. Here are some news items for the coming week.
IN-PERSON WORSHIP IS AROUND THE CORNER
At their May meeting, Congregation Council approved the recommendation that was proposed by the Worship Committee in consultation with Risk Management and Church Staff, to return to in-person worship at our 8:00 a.m. hour starting on June 6th. The service will still observe “safe practice” protocol by: requiring masks, asking families to social distance by households, and signing in for worship for contact tracing purposes. The service will run about thirty minutes, with liturgy, lessons, sermon, prayers, organ music and communion using our fellowship cups. Singing inside building is still clearly considered a high-risk practice, so music will be offered through the organ and instrumental means. Please sign up on-line when the link is up and live, or call the Church Office to reserve a spot. We will be able to safely gather up to 130 people for the service.
CHURCH GROUNDS CLEAN-UP – THIS SATURDAY!!
It is springtime and time to clean up the church grounds to prepare for our return after COVID. When? Saturday, May 15th 8:00 AM to Noon. We will gather at the church to clean up the grounds and spread mulch in the flower beds. There was no clean-up last year due to COVID restrictions, so the beds really need some attention. Many hands make light work. So, grab your rake, shovel, or pitchfork-and maybe one to share- and join us! Our rain-date will be Saturday, May 22nd. Please email Bud Benton at budbenton@comcast.net if you plan to come or have questions.
WELCA
Since we will not be having our WELCA end of the year luncheon we are inviting you to come to St. Peter’s on Thursday morning, May 13th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to see each other and renew our friendships. We will meet outdoors so bring a chair and your water or other drink bottle. Pastor Ross will join us and discuss the benefits and problems caused by the COVID pandemic. If you need a ride to the church, please contact Kathy or Sally and they will make arrangements for you. Also, if you need a chair please let us know and we will see that one is available for you. Contacts: Sally Rager, 717-569-6119, Kathy Caldwell, 717-371-7296.
SUMMER OUTDOOR CHOIR SEASON
Folks 9th grade and up, come join with other singers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays in the parking lot at St. Peter’s for some outdoor singing. We’ll mask and socially distance (following CDC and other professional organizations’ guidelines) and sing together in God’s acoustic! This is a great way to regain some of your singing “chops”!
SUNDAY WORSHIP
This Sunday, May 16, we will worship in-person, in the parking lot at 9:15 a.m. for a communion service, and in the sanctuary via Live-stream at 10:45 a.m. at https://www.stpeterslutheran.org/live. This Sunday is our Mission Campaign Commitment Sunday. As you discern and pray how you feel called to give to the Mission Campaign, we encourage you to check out our Mission Campaign webpage or to reach out to our Mission Campaign co-chairs Jen Schlener Thomas and Adrian Young.
