Weekly Update for December 2

Sarah Teichmann

Hi Folks.  Here is some news for the week!

Due to the increased community spread of COVID-19, this event has been cancelled.

St. Peter’s December 12 Cookie Drive-Thru needs more cookie bakers!  Since we can’t badger you at church with sign-up sheets, please use this link to sign up, https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d4aaeab2ba0fe3-bakers or call the church office (717) 569-9211. Please use just your name-no numbers or comments.  Sign up to bake a double batch of your best Christmas cookies and bring them to church on Friday, December 11, between 12 noon-7PM.  Drive up to the main door (under the car port) and someone will come out to get them-no need to get out of your car. Thank you!  We can’t do this without lots of bakers!

Join us on Sunday December 13th at 2:00 pm in our church parking lot for a live nativity service.  Our Children and youth will be walking through the parking lot representing the people and animals of the nativity.  This will be formatted much like our earlier Drive-In services and you will be able to hear by tuning into your car radio.  Hymns and Christmas carols will be part of a full worship service with a live nativity taking place during the Gospel and sermon. Holy Communion will also be celebrated.  In the event of inclement weather, the rain date is Sunday December 20th at 2:00 p.m. Call the church office with your intent to attend this service at (717) 569-9211!

We continue to have two in-person worship service opportunities on Sunday afternoons at 2pm and our Wednesday Advent service at 7pm. Because of some concerns for safety as we are gathering under the car port, we will not be singing. Please call the church office (717-569-9211) if you plan to attend, so we can make sure to have enough communion elements and bulletins for everyone.  Folding chairs will be provided or bring one of your own for the 15-20-minute service featuring readings of the season, prayers, an Advent reflection, and Holy Communion. If you feel more comfortable, plan to stay in your care and listen to the service through our FM radio feed.

Your commitment cards and Time & Talent forms are starting to arrive at church, and your Stewardship Committee, Congregation Council and Church Staff say THANK YOU!  In this time of social isolation, we could not be more grateful for your support of our congregational life and ministries, most of which are still functioning, though in different ways.  Please return your 2021 forms, so that we can assess the viability of our budget plans for the coming year.

God’s Peace, Your Church Staff
