Worship at St. Peter’s in December

This December we have a lot of chances to worship, wait in hopeful expectation, and celebrate God’s coming into our world in the person of Jesus Christ. Take a look below for a list of opportunities. We hope to see you and we hope these offerings provide ways for you and your family to mark the season. For a centralized location to see any updates on these and other offerings, head to stpeterslutheran.org/christmas.

Sunday Worship Services

Worship will continue to stream live from our website (www.stpeterslutheran.org/live) beginning at 10:45 on Sundays. In place of our drive-in service, we’ll be holding an abbreviated service of word and sacrament under the car port with a 2:00pm start time.

Advent Calendar of Prayer

If you haven’t already, join the staff daily at 7pm on the church’s Facebook page for our Advent Calendar of Prayer. This short time includes a bible reading, song of the season, and prayer and is a great way to mark the season of Advent as we wait with hopeful expectation for the Christ child. Readings and songs can be found at www.stpeterslutheran.org/advent.

Midweek Advent Services

Much like our outdoor worship offering on Sundays, we’ll be offering short services starting at 7:00pm under the car port on Wednesdays in December (2nd, 9th, and 23rd). These services include brief liturgy, a hymn, and communion.

Darkest Night Service

Our annual Darkest Night service will be held on Wednesday, December 23rd at 7:00pm. Similar to our midweek Advent services, this will be a brief time of scripture, song, prayer, anointing, and candle lighting held outside under the carport.

Progressive Christmas Eve Service

As long as it looks safe to do so, St. Peter’s is planning to host its first ever Progressive Christmas Eve service on December 24th from 3:00-6:00pm. Worshipers will begin outside on the north side of the building at the memorial garden, proceed through the FLC, playground, Sanctuary, and leave through the south entrance under the car port. Progressing through these stations will tell the story of Jesus’ birth and ask worshipers to entertain the questions of what Christ’s coming means in our daily lives. Look for more detailed information and sign-up instructions to come.

Livestreamed Christmas Eve Service

Join us again at stpeterslutheran.org/live for a live-streamed Christmas Eve service at 7:30pm on December 24th.

Lessons and Carols

As we have done in the past, the First Sunday of Christmas will be comprised of a lessons and carols service, led this year via live-streamed worship at stpeterslutheran.org/live on December 27th at 10:45am.
