Weekly Update for October 21

St. Peter's Lutheran

Keep up to date with some our our updates this week!

REGISTER NOW FOR THE OCTOBER 25 CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

This Sunday, October 25, at 9am we will gather digitally for our congregational meeting. Our purpose for meeting is to consider this recommendation:  Congregation Council recommends that St. Peter’s contracts with Kirby-Smith Associates, in the amount of $44,500, to lead a Mission Campaign beginning in the fall of 2020 and continuing into 2023 to meet our existing and potential mission goals for St. Peter’s.  We strongly encourage you to visit at https://www.stpeterslutheran.org/mission-campaign where you can register for the meeting and also find documents with information on the meeting discussion.

COUNCIL UPDATE FROM BETH SOSLOW

Council President Beth Soslow offers some updates for St. Peter’s, and some important information for the life of the church.

IN PERSON 8AM INDOOR WORSHIP BEGINS NOVEMBER 15

Mark your calendars for November 15th at 8am. We will begin our first indoor in-person worship in the sanctuary.  The service will be brief (30 minutes) with traditional liturgy, communion using the fellowship cups we use at drive-in worship, some liturgy and a sermon.  There will be no sung music.  Adam Lefever Hughes recently wrote a post about why we are not singing indoors, please be sure to read his well researched blog post. Social distanced seating and mask usage will be required.  Further details about the service will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead.

LIVE STREAM WORSHIP & DRIVE-IN WORSHIP CONTINUE

This Sunday we will be celebrating the Reformation with scripture, preaching, and of course beloved music. Live-stream worship from the sanctuary continues this coming Sunday as usual at 10:45 a.m. at  https://www.stpeterslutheran.org/live.  Our Drive-In worship continues at 4pm with liturgy, a beloved Reformation hymn, and Holy Communion. If attending the drive-in, please call the church office (717-569-9211) with a head count of how many will be in your car, so we can make sure to have enough communion elements and bulletins for everyone.

PRE-ELECTION ONLINE PRAYER SERVICE NOVEMBER 2 AT 6:30PM

The political tension in the air has sometimes made it hard to breathe, so take some time before voting to breathe, pray, and be centered in the Lord. Sister Dottie Almoney will lead a pre-election prayer service on November 2 at 6:30pm. The service will be livestreamed and available at https://www.stpeterslutheran.org/live.

ANNUAL MEETING NOVEMBER 8

We will also conduct our Annual Congregational Meeting on November 8 at 9 a.m., using the Gotowebinar digital platform noted in the above article.  We will vote on a 2021 budget, elect officers and new Council members for 2021, and cover our other reports, albeit in a different medium of communication than normal.  This will be a first for us at St. Peter’s.  Please plan to be a part of it, and insure that we have a quorum for the meeting.

God’s Peace,

Your Church Staff

Rev. Sarah Teichmann

Pastor of Christian Formation

I love working in a staff where we are able to use each other’s strengths for the glory of God. I am energized by the lay leaders of the church and the creative ways they can extend the mission of Jesus to congregational members and our community.
