Weekly Update for August 5

St. Peter's Lutheran

Hi Folks – here is this week’s Wednesday update on news from St. Peter’s.

Worship Update

Please be aware that a number of projects are in the works.  Some of the equipment necessary for providing live-stream worship from the church, using our chancel space (altar, pulpit, organ, piano) is starting to arrive.  Staff will start working on installing the equipment and getting it ready.  We continue to discuss outdoor worship possibilities and what they might look like in our setting.  We did have a wedding in the sanctuary last week according to the regulations our Covid-Response team drafted (under 25 attendees, mask usage, social distanced seating, and no singing, among others).  It went well, and was a modest but good initial test for our new in-house protocol when the gathering limit is raised again.

Sages Sunday

Given our worship gathering limit, and the health risks for many of our Sages, we will not have a late August Sages Celebration in church.  Our Parish Life team will put together an acknowledgement mailing for all our Sages, including recognition of new Sages.  We will also have a blessing offered for our Sages in worship on August 23rd.  Please offer a prayer of thanks to these octogenarians and nonagenarians and their lifelong service to St. Peter’s and other congregations.

Phishing Scam

If you recently received an email that claimed to be from Pastor Ross, asking you to send him gift cards, please do no such thing and delete the email.  This is another phishing scam, so popular these days.  You church staff will never ask you to do something like this through an email.  Please just delete the email.

Staff Vacations

Please be aware that Pastor Sarah and Sister Dottie will be out of town through this weekend.  Sister Dottie will be back in town to preach at our Sunday service this weekend, August 9th, and Pastor Sarah will be back to work on Monday, August 10th.  Please direct all church emergencies to Pastor Ross for the remainder of this week.

Worship This Sunday, August 9th

We continue to live stream worship from the back of the sanctuary this Sunday, August 9th at 10:45 a.m.  Please use this link to join us at Church@Home.  We extend our thanks for your faithful online worship attendance, along with your strong financial support.  If you would like to see a few friendly faces that you miss, consider joining us for a Digital Narthex experience right after worship, by clicking this Zoom  link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89168923237 for this Sunday.
