And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him.”
Matthew 4:19-20
This Sunday is Youth Sunday and an opportunity to celebrate the many gifts our youth bring to our mission and ministry. With the assistance of our pastors, deacon, and our Christian education leaders, our Sunday’s worship will be youth-led. Don’t miss out on this spirit-filled worship service!
The Schedule For this Sunday’s Worship
On January 25, we gather for an 8 am service and a combined 10:45 am service in the sanctuary. Both services will be led by our congregation’s youth. New Day Praise will return to its normal schedule on February 2.
This Sunday’s Sermon Theme:
All Aboard the Disciple-ship?
In the Gospel reading for Sunday, Jesus begins to call his disciples when he asks Peter, Andrew, James and John to join him in his ministry. But we don’t know how Jesus chose his disciples to follow him as far as what qualifications he was looking for. Jesus didn’t conduct interviews for his disciples, so how did he decide who was “in?” During the sermon, the Senior High class will help us envision what that process might look like today. During the sermon, we’ll present one of those scenarios to depict what that might look like in our busy world.
Worship Music For Sunday
The Hymn of the Day is Here I Am, Lord
Jesus calls fishermen to be his disciples and we sing in hopes that the Lord may call us to service too. We proclaim our steadfast love and faithfulness to God’s mission when we sing, “I will go Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.”
Meet and Greet Opportunity
This Sunday be sure to meet Richie and Rachel Musser, our feasibility study consultants from Kirby Smith Associates. Stay for an information session with them in the sanctuary during our 9:15 am Adult Sunday School hour. Before Sunday, check out their Q&A!
