“Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32
Jesus reassures us of God’s care for his people in the first part of this Sunday’s reading from Luke. Just like Abram in this Sunday’s reading from Genesis, we must place our trust in God who will always provide. The writer of Hebrews also reminds the church of Abram’s faith, faith even in things that would not come to fruition in his lifetime.

Traditional Worship Hymn of the Day: Have No Fear, Little Flock
Jesus says, “It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” We echo this sentiment in our hymn of the day, as we liken ourselves to the sheep of God’s pasture. We are never left alone for God “stays close beside us” and “in all things works with us”
New Day Worship Song: The Heart of Worship
Exploring another side of today’s Gospel reading, today’s New Day worship song has us sing to remind each other that Jesus is the true heart of worship. As we think about the treasure of the kingdom, we sing about all the good treasures of God.
For further reflection…
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
What situation do you need to entrust to God’s care right now?
How might living in faith and hope, rather than in doubt and fear, have an effect on the church’s response to current social issues?
What are heavenly treasures? How might we change the world around us by focusing on them?
