Each week we’re spotlighting a ministry at St. Peter’s to show our mission in action. This week, we’re looking at our Communications Ministry.
Our Ministry
Though we have a committee designated as the Communications Committee which manages the public image of the church and promotes communication of church events and programs, the ministry of communication reaches far beyond this one committee. The work of the Communications committee can be seen in press releases and newspaper advertising, Facebook events and updates about ministries, website pages and blog posts that tell the story of our faith.
We recall the Apostle Paul’s words, “As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” –Romans 10:15. We are all called to have ‘beautiful feet’ as we help to tell the story of God’s love through Christ who lives in us. Looking beyond one committee’s work, the ministry of communication includes the many letters, countless emails, and numerous phone calls sent out from rostered leaders, office staff, program staff, and volunteers to inform our membership of ministry opportunities and needs. Likewise, this ministry is lifted up every time our membership communicates with church leaders about needs, opportunities, and paths we may take in our journey following Jesus.
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
–Ephesians 4:29
Communications Team Member Erik Teichmann
“I came to St. Peter’s four years ago when my wife Sarah was called as the Pastor of Christian Formation. The enthusiasm for ministry at St. Peter’s is contagious, so I quickly found ways to bring my own talents to the table to further our mission. As a member of the Communications Committee, I built the St. Peter’s website and use it, along with social media, photography, and video, to help others see that same enthusiasm and to get involved in spreading the gospel here.”
