Our next meeting of the Book Club is Tuesday, September 19, at 1:30pm in the Cry Room. Join us as we discuss America’s First Daughter, a historical fiction about Patsy Jefferson, daughter of Thomas Jefferson.
What’s the Book Club like?
We are a very relaxed group and like to talk about what we thought of the book and sometimes refer to discussion questions on the book. Our meetings are limited to one hour. Although we have read some classics, we usually read best sellers which can be fiction or non-fiction. Recently read books have included The Zookeeper’s Wife by Diane Ackerman, Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult, and Woman of God by James Patterson.
Many folks who’ve attended the book club mentioned that they appreciate going because “it forces them to read” if they are not in the habit of doing it!
September’s Book read
In a compelling, richly researched novel that draws from thousands of letters and original sources, bestselling authors Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie tell the fascinating, untold story of Thomas Jefferson’s eldest daughter. Martha “Patsy” Jefferson Randolph is a woman who kept the secrets of our most enigmatic founding father and shaped an American legacy.
