Pet Blessing this Sunday

Our annual Pet Blessing will take place this Sunday, October 2, at 2:30pm. Bring your dogs, cats, ferrets, parakeets, hamsters, iguanas, or ant farm — all pets are welcome!

This brief blessing will take place on the lawn behind the church, next to the parking lot. Waiting for a personal invitation? Here’s Pete the Pug:

Each year the church commemorates St. Francis of Assisi on October 4. We remember St. Francis for his joyous love of nature and God’s creation, embodied in his treatment of animals. Thomas of Celano recounts St. Francis “Preaching to the Birds” in this passage:

My brother birds, you should greatly praise your Creator and love Him always. He clothed you with feathers and gave you wings for flying. Among all His creatures He made you free and gave you the purity of the air. You neither sow nor reap, He nevertheless governs you without your least care.

Please share this event with fellow pet-owners in your community!

Contemporary Worship Leader

I’ve been leading music in worship since 2001, and I love to work with others to offer up our musical gifts to God. When I’m not playing guitar and most anything with strings, I build websites and help nonprofits tell their stories.
